Philosophy

If Less is More... than making only what you need and truly want is the way to go!

This is the 'Made to Order', or 'Order on Demand' philosophy. With a little more thought and patience we can enjoy the 'material world' while leaving a lighter footprint on our beautiful planet. It's a kinder and gentler approach.

Designer / Artisan, Lauren Lake has been a life-long maker. She holds a BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design where she majored in Industrial Design as well as studied photography and art history abroad in Rome and Northern Italy on RISD’s European Honors Program. While there she developed a deep appreciation for the art, craft and design of decorative and everyday objects - 'oggetti funzionali' (functional objects).

Always fascinated by 'process' she explores different techniques as needed to create her designs whether from 3d printing 'wax' and lost-wax casting to hand forming, mold making and kiln-firing precious metal clays.

After RISD she spent most of a decade in California owning and operating a small prototyping company and working in feature film special fx, tech and design fields with a short phase at Steelecase in Michigan before finally returning to Rhode Island.

She has also taught Industrial Design, Sustainability, Model Making and Woodworking in the undergraduate programs at Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Rhode Island School of Design as well as Pre-College 2d, 3d Design and Digital Photography.
